Panel Focus: Detoxification

Why is it relevant?

With 2022 on the horizon, it is an important time to address any detoxification health concerns. Glutathione, the “master antioxidant,” helps support major detoxification pathways found in the liver, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract (Source). Detoxification enzymes are responsible for clearing environmental chemicals and metabolic by-products from our body. Accumulation of these chemicals and by-products can damage intracellular biochemical functions. Alterations in these systems can have a significant negative effect on the nervous system and immune-system functions. Genetic predispositions to detoxification issues can result in decreased “quality of life” and even decreased “life-span.” GX Sciences strives to educate our practitioners about genetic and environmental factors that could explain symptoms associated with detoxification issues.

Why is it important?

Glutathione is critical for maintaining health, protecting the body from toxins and promoting longevity (Source). Our comprehensive nutrigenomic panel, Detoxification, identifies underlying contributing factors to weight loss problems, gut complications, auto-immune issues, fatigue and detoxification issues. This panel consists of 12+ gene variants (SNPs) that play a significant role in a patient’s ability to control or resolve complications related to their detox struggles. Genetic findings and interpretations through the GX Sciences supplementation algorithm can help determine:

  • Inadequate glutathione absorption, metabolism & function
  • Poor defense against free radicals
  • Insufficiencies in the protective properties of antioxidants
